Bought a Kona Unit for everyday commuting and hauling gear. Toni was going on an overnighter so I decided to tag along and see how it goes without gears. The plan was simple: get beer and sausages - go to Nuuksio for the night.

It had been quite sunny and dry for a few days so naturally we were hit with some sleet on the way.
After a brief shop stop and a couple hours of riding we were on the last leg of the route. Soft wet snow is not the ideal combo for bikes with fenders.
Just as we were getting close to our destination of Sorlampi we met a dude walking his dog. He told us that there would be no wood there and that he left a fire going at nearby Hynkanlampi, so we thanked him and diverted our route.
Nice selection of the good stuff for the night. We also had a cookout contest Jetboil vs. Primus pot and pan set. Needles to say the Jetboil was way faster to get a rolling boil.
Toni had his Fjällräven tent and I slept in a bivy.
Both are good, just for different purposes. Most of the riding was on cycle paths, so my single speed setup kept the pace very relaxed. I have a Surly Porteur House bag on the front rack. Fits tons of stuff and seems to be quite handy for everyday grocery runs too.
Finally we met one.
We rode the ever so slight hangover away into some icy snow massaging our faces.
Here is the route (one way): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19301284
Check out this little clip Toni made from his instavideos!
Thanks!
